Description

Cast bronze. St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, stands slightly bent forward with his arms lifted and palms facing outward, as if he were giving a blessing. At the base of the sculpture sit three birds looking upwards at St. Francis. Umlauf repeatedly used St. Francis as a subject. He also intentionally positioned this sculpture to face the garden's bronze animals.
